Meanwhile, here are your Q&As from Session 2 – How to Unlock Local SEO Strategies.

Q: What happens when you are using a tracking marketing number(s) as this will not be consistent across all websites and platforms? How will this impact Google Business profiles?

A: The Google Business Profile should be updated with the main contact number (without any tracking numbers).

Q: I travel around multiple locations to run my business, so which address should I use on my Google Business profile? The location of my registered address is at my accountants where I don’t actually see clients.

A: On your Google Business Profile you have the option to set your business up as a service which you can then add multiple locations and service areas.

Q: Are all the tools used free or do they have a subscription?

A: Google Trends, LOCALiQ SEO Audit and many Google Chrome extensions are free to use. WordPress plugins often give a limited free version of the tool.

Q: Once you have made your website SEO friendly, and have implemented landing pages etc. to the site, approximately how long may it take for your site / landing pages to appear on Google organic search? How long do we need to wait to find out how effective the changes have been?

A: Once you have made any changes to a page (or multiple pages) it is best practice to run the pages (and/or sitemap) through Google Search Console for optimum indexing speed. Generally speaking, it can take 3-5 days for pages to begin indexing, usually allow 6 weeks + for Google indexing to settle any fluctuations to give a more accurate result of indexing.

Q: Our business has over 12 locations. Can I create a location page for each location or is that too much? Will there not be a lot of “duplicate content”?

A: There is no one-size-fits-all approach to location pages. If you’re able to justify the multiple location pages there is no reason why these are necessarily bad for SEO. Best to avoid duplicate content and emphasise different teams, specialities, case studies etc specific to that area or location.

Q: The Pagespeed Insights report showed they passed core web vitals but the info below said it was in the red with 49/100 – what is the difference? Our website also says the same.

A: A ‘pass’ in core web vitals means the website has met the minimum threshold.

Q: Is it usually free to register with local business directories like Yell etc?

A: Most local business directories like Yell do offer free registration, but they often have various tiers of services. Basic registration might be free, allowing you to list your business with essential information. But, there may be paid options that offer additional features or more prominent placement in the directory. We recommend carefully reading through the terms and conditions or contact them directly to understand the specific details of what’s included in their free registration and what additional benefits might be available through paid options.

Q: What should we do to show our telephone lines are open 24/7, on our Google listing we have the times that the office is open.

A: People can follow the click to call at any time. It might be worth adding a sentence to the business description just to highlight the telephone lines are open 24/7

Q: If there is an issue with our Google listing, and we feel like we have done everything to resolve it but to no avail. who do we escalate it to? Does Google help fix errors?

A: The primary channel for addressing Google listing issues is through Google My Business support. You can access this by signing in to your Google My Business account. Once logged in, you’ll find various support options, including the option to contact Google support directly. They should be able to provide you with the guidance and assistance to resolve issues related to your business listing.
